Will your students benefit from spatial training?

To determine the need for spatial training, many schools assess students using a spatial test. Students who fall below a specific threshold on the spatial test are candidates for spatial training.  Schools measure the impact of their spatial training by re-testing students’ spatial skills after students complete the spatial training curriculum.

Colleges typically test students using a test such as the Purdue Spatial Visualization Rotations test (PSVT:R) developed by Roland Guay in 1977.  The PSVT:R is timed for 20 minutes and consists of 30 multiple choice questions.  The threshold commonly set for the PSVT:R is 60%, with students performing below that mark being candidates for spatial training.

K-12 schools often use a set of tests that each have 10 questions.
